This ship was launched as the Royal Viking Sun in 1988 and was later named Seabourn Sun when Seabourn Cruise Line acquired the ship in 1998. In 2002, Seabourn transferred the ship to Holland America Line. It is a mid sized ship of 37845 tons and carries in the region of 800 passengers. It concentrates on longer voyages, generally 14 to 73 day itineraries. The ship has been nicknamed the "Elegant Explorer" and is best suited for more mature travelers who want a classic style. This is part of the Prinsendam’s 30-Day Kiel Canal & Gaelic Legends Cruise that starts in Amsterdam on August 7th. Next ports of call are Foynes, Dunmore East and Dublin.
